About me

I'm on a lifelong mission to improve products for people through craft and by being a catalyst for deeper collaboration between Design, Engineering, Product, and others.

Born in Portugal, I moved to Stockholm 12 years ago and have since worked at organizations like Ericsson, TriOptima, Mentimeter, Klarna, and Volvo Cars.

Leading by example, with vulnerability and candor, I employ transparent and effective communication, paired with carefully written documentation, knowledge sharing, and mentoring/coaching, to enable teams to work smarter, not harder.

I also create and evolve systems, processes, and develop automations (like Figma plugins and widgets) that are custom-crafted for the organization's specific needs and skill levels, increasing exploration and production speed and quality, while ensuring accessibility above legal requirements.

As a Design Mentor, I contribute to leveling up the next generation of Designers, having mentored over 150 people worldwide (but with a focus on the Nordics).

During my free time, I play video games (former semi-pro journalist), and read/watch sci-fi, fantasy, and manga/anime. I'm also known to post hipster food pictures and my photographic adventures on Instagram.

Some career highlights

• Helped design a WebGL editor called Goo Create (think Spline but 8y ago). Amazon later acquired it and is now known as AWS Sumerian.
• Led the Ericsson UX 2.0 initiative, which generated new Ericsson design language and principles. This effort culminated on the award-winning Ericsson Design System (IF Design and Red Dot).
• Art directed and designed the Ericsson Security Manager VR experience. A proof-of-concept project, that showed how the Ericsson Design System could also be used in immersive 3D experiences.
• Published How Bad is the Tech Gender Gap in Sweden? on Medium.
• Designed, implemented the frontend code, and documented the TriOptima Design System. At the time, it encompassed 2 Sketch libraries and a tech stack-agnostic CSS/JS framework. It was used in 5 different products, where a single critical bug could result in thousands of dollars in losses.
• Ran and compiled the **Design Hiring in Sweden** survey, and published the findings on Medium. It's a data-validated analysis, on the things that matter most for those recruiting and hiring design professionals in Sweden
